There are many popular areas in the city ideal for residents. Depending on how far you want to travel for work or the establishments and facilities that you need, each area offers its own unique characteristics.

1. BKK 1 is called the “foreign capital” since the early ’80s. It is located in between the northern end of Sihanouk Blvd. and Mao Tse Toung Blvd., on the southeast of the Independence Monument.

5. 7 Makara is home to the Olympic Stadium, O’Russey Market and the Borei Keila community. It is also where the Embassies of Cuba and Embassy of Germany are located.
6. Daun Penh is best known for the Wat Phnom Temple, Royal Palace, National Museum, and several riverside restaurants and a vibrant nightlife scene on Street 51.
7. Chroy Changva is a rising residential and commercial district, occupying the sliver of land where the Tonle Sap meets the Mekong River at the northeast section of the capital.
8. Toul Kork is a district which name translates to the ground hill in Khmer. It is located in the northeast of central Phnom Penh. The urban development in the area is very fast and it is now becoming one of the economic hubs in the city.
9. Boeung Kak 1 & 2 is a quiet residential area and part of the Toul Kork district which is home to Asian expats including Chinese and Korean, as well western teachers. It is developing into a bustling area with the increase in the number of restaurants and entertainment establishments built in the district.
